A diva what?

I think I need to discuss a topic here just for the girls.  So you guys may want to turn away and block your ears.  Hey, I’m a girl so topics like this will come up from time to time.

Whether I’m traveling across the country in my van or backpacking abroad, dealing with the dreaded period is an inconvenience.  Carrying feminine products and disposing of them is something I don’t want to worry about.  Not to mention I loath putting toxins on or in my body.

I had been doing some research for alternatives to using feminine products and stumbled across the Diva Cup.  How am I only just now finding out about this little treasure at 47 years old?  I feel ripped off!

What is the Diva Cup you ask?  Well for those of you who don’t already know, it’s a reusable menstrual cup that is made “from the highest quality healthcare grade silicone” and you can wear it for up to 12 hours without the worry of leakage.

Some find it a little pricey but I think it’s a great investment.  You buy it once and use the same cup for up to a year, or maybe longer.  In the end, you’re actually saving a lot of money considering the cost of tampons and/or pads every month.

There are two sizes.  One is the Diva Cup 1 Pre Childbirth  This is pretty self explanatory.  It’s for the younger girls and for those who haven’t given birth.  And then there is the Diva Cup Model 2 to be used “for women over 30 years old and/or for women who have delivered vaginally or by c-section”.

I have used it for my last two cycles so I feel have used it enough to be comfortable in recommending it to you.  No I take that back.  I highly recommend it!  This little gem is a total game changer.

Honestly, if you haven’t tried it yet you should.  It does take a little getting used to but once you figure it out, it’s the best thing ever.
